$25,000 to be awarded to nonprofits serving children
We are proud to announce the inaugural CWR Compelling Organization Awards. Consulting Within Reach (CWR) will give a total of $25,000 to be used by award winners towards our services. The donations in kind will be specifically aimed at nonprofits serving children and youth in the greater Bay Area.
The Compelling Organization Awards differ from standard grants in three ways:
- They are given in conjunction with our already discounted services to make the value go farther.
- This is a "by invitation only" award: organizations must be first nominated by a member of the CWR Team.
- Finally, we’re structuring the entire process to minimize the demands on busy executive directors. Nominees will not be asked to submit a written application, only to participate in an in person interview with our leadership. The interview is intended to collaboratively generate a specific project idea around the grant. Within two weeks after a project idea has been generated, we expect to provide an answer to nominees
The projects enabled by the Compelling Organization Awards can involve any of our services including:
- marketing
- web development
- fundraising
- strategic planning
- board development
- … and more (see here for the full range of CWR capabilities).
Like many donations, the amount awarded may not cover the full cost of the final project. The winning projects will be chosen in an ongoing nomination and judging process that will take place between September 1st 2008 and April 15th, 2009.
We will select the projects and organizations that seem most compelling to us as a team. Key factors will include how strategic the organization is in the field of children and youth, as well as how much the potential project can build that organization's long term strength.
While Consulting Within Reach serves a wide variety of fields, the mission to benefit children and youth is particularly compelling to our team. We've instituted the Compelling Organization Awards to contribute to this field, and to help us identify potential long term partners who share that mission.
