We employ best practices honed from our professional backgrounds in settings such as Apple, Hewlett Packard, Accenture Consulting, Harvard University, and other leading organizations.

We are led by Curtis Chang, the president of a national foundation and a veteran leader of several nonprofits over a 15 year career.

Our Geographical Scope:

With headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area and an office in Los Angeles, our origins and ongoing focus are in California. Building on that base, we have expanded our national practice, having served nonprofits operating in multiple states ranging from New York to Illinois to Washington State. CWR has also served clients with an international reach, including the US State Department and NGOs serving the developing world.

Our History:

Consulting Within Reach was founded by Curtis Chang in 2007. As the Executive Director of a grantmaking agency, Curtis recognized that many of his grantees needed to develop better organizational capacity to effectively pursue their causes. At a gathering with his friends, he suddenly had an epiphany: almost all the professional skills required to address that need were right there in the room with him. Curtis put on his recruiting hat and the rest is our ongoing history…

Our Role in the Sector

Consulting Within Reach also contributes leadership for the broader social sector.
